Christopher Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services - Hartford on Mar. 11, 2026.
Christopher Howard Johnson-affectionately known as Chris to his friends and Howard to his family-was born on January 14, 1956, to the late David and Annie Bell Johnson, and he transitioned on February 26, 2026.

Howard was educated in the Bridgeport school system and graduated from Warren Harding High School, Class of 1974. He continued his education at Housatonic Community College.

He attended Ebenezer Gospel Assembly, where he served on the Junior Usher Board and participated in the children and youth choir.

In January 1982, he married Barbara Boyd, and together they moved to New Haven, where they lived for many years.

After his employer, Raybestos, closed its doors, Howard found employment with Spectra Strip. He was a dedicated employee for more than 40 years, leaving his coworkers with many fond memories and kind words about him.

In 2007, he suffered an aneurysm, but God saw fit to fully heal his body and bless him with many more fruitful years of life.

A true sports fan, Howard could often be heard talking about "my Patriots" or "my Knicks." He also loved jazz, family gatherings, birthday parties, Super Bowl parties, cycling, and roller coasters-the faster, the higher, the better.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory and legacy: his son, Vaughn Johnson; his daughter, Candace Johnson; five grandchildren-Khalil McBride, Makyla McBride, Alicia Webb, Xavier Johnson, and Savion Webb; and a great-grandson, ZKhari Spidey. He is also survived by his brother, Dwight Johnson (Loretta), along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, David and Annie Bell Johnson, and by his sister, Annie Jean Lofton.

God bless you, Howard.
