Douglas Wilson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services - Hartford on Mar. 10, 2026.
Douglas "Doug" Wilson, a cherished soul, completed his earthly journey and entered into eternal rest on March 4, 2026, at Civita Care Center in Milford, Connecticut. He was born on March 17, 1954, in Raeford, North Carolina. Doug is predeceased by his parents, Woodrow Wilson and Thelma Wilson (Veal) of Notasulga, Alabama, and by his common-law wife, Maxine Butler of New Haven, Connecticut.

He is survived by his brothers Dwight Wilson of Hartford, Connecticut, and Kenneth Wilson and sister-in-law Marjorie ("Micky") Wilson of New Haven, Connecticut; and his sister Cheretta Hayes of South Windsor, Connecticut. He is also predeceased by his brother-in-law, Timothy Hayes.

Doug's life was a testament to the strength and resilience of the human spirit. His formative years were spent in the vibrant halls of Weaver High School in Hartford, from which he graduated in 1972. His industrious nature led him to a fulfilling career as a machine operator at Pratt & Whitney. There, Doug's skill and precision were more than the tools of his trade-they were reflections of his character. His colleagues knew him as a man of integrity and dedication, someone people could always count on to get the job done.

A devout Christian and a member of Faith Baptist Church in New Haven, Doug's faith was the cornerstone of his life. His passion for living energized him and encouraged him to fully embrace each day. Fishing was one of his greatest joys, and he had been looking forward to planning a trip this summer. He also loved tinkering with cars, installing stereos, and playing golf, spending many summers on the golf course in West Hartford, Connecticut.

Courageous, funny, and handy, Doug was a beacon of light to everyone who knew him. His courage in the face of adversity-especially throughout his illness-was a source of deep inspiration. He confronted his health challenges with grace, dignity, and unwavering faith. His humor uplifted those around him, reminding everyone that even in the darkest moments, there is still room for joy and laughter.

As we reflect on Doug's life, we are reminded that each day is a gift from God, to be lived with purpose and gratitude. Doug's legacy is not one of material wealth or worldly accolades, but of the love he gave so freely and the lives he touched so deeply. He has run the race set before him, he has kept the faith, and now he rests in the arms of his loving Savior.

We bid farewell to Douglas Wilson-a man of God, a beacon of hope, and a beloved brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. His memory will be forever etched in the hearts of those privileged to know him, and his spirit will continue to guide us as we navigate the path of life.

Rest in peace, dear Doug, until we meet again.

The family of Mr. Wilson thanks you for your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. Please feel free to leave words of comfort on his tribute wall.
