Robert Neidhold Obituary

Robert Neidhold

August 10, 1945 - January 9, 2026

Robert, (Bob) Neidhold, Age 80, passed away on January 9, 2026, at Gulf Shores, Alabama. Robert was born August 10, 1945, to John and Dorothy Neidhold in Milwaukee. After Bob's birth, the Neidhold family moved to a small farm near Dorchester, Wisconsin. Bob grew up on the farm and attended high school in Dorchester. He graduated from Dor-Abby High School in 1963. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force June 14, 1963.

Following basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas, he was stationed at Chanute AFB, Illinois, for training as a missile mechanic. In January, 1964, he was assigned to Malmstrom AFB, Great Falls, Montana. He completed his assignment there with the 341st Minuteman Missile Maintenance Squadron on June 13, 1967.

Bob enrolled in UW Eau Claire the fall of 1967 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education in 1972. He graduated with a master's degree in 1975. He started his teaching career at Central Junior High, Eau Claire, that September. He taught ninth grade English for ten years, moving to South Junior High when it was built. In 1990 he transferred to North High School and completed his twenty-eight-year teaching career there in 2000.

While attending the University, he met and married Joan Lund in 1969. They had two children, Raquel and Ryan. After they divorced in 1992, Bob moved to Lake Wissota near Chippewa Falls.

He became an avid musky fisherman, spending hundreds of hours fishing and guiding on Lake Wissota. He also traveled to Ontario, Canada, at least twice each summer in pursuit of the elusive musky. While an active member of First Wisconsin Muskies, Inc., he recorded more than 200 muskies on the Lunge Log, the national registration site. His proudest achievement with that organization was winning the men's division for the longest musky caught in 2000, a 55-inch fish caught on Lake Lac Suel, Ontario. He was awarded a graphite replica of that fish at the National Muskie's, Inc., meeting in Minneapolis in the spring of 2001.

Surviving Robert are his children, Raquel and Ryan (Carrie), granddaughter, Sophia Neidhold; brother, Jon; nieces, Catherine Warnock and Nancy Ross (Dave); Nephews, Jay Neidhold (Lisa) and Tim Warnock; long-time friend Judy Myer; countless other friends and relatives in Wisconsin and Gulf Shores, Alabama.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Eileen, brother-in-law Dick Warnock, and sister-in-law Marlene Neidhold.
