Roger Lavern Flaten was called to be a disciple of God and he answered "yes" On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, God called Roger to his eternal home.
He was born in Strum WI, on August 4,1931 to George and Cora Flaten. He was baptized in October of 1931. Roger outlived his 5 siblings and their spouses.
Roger was a natural born salesman. He excelled in the appliance business at NSP and, most notably, F.S. Appliance and T.V. His greatest endeavor was spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
John 14:6 Jesus said "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
On October 19,1958, Roger married Joanne M. Wick.
He is survived by Joanne, sons Christopher (Denise), his children Averi Firari of VA, Corinne Flaten-Firari and great-grandson L.J. of CA; Steven (Jodeen), their sons Tucker (Chandler), great-grandson Sheppard, and another great-grand baby due any day, of Moscow, ID. Samuel (Bridget), and great-grandson due, in November, of Eau Claire. And Jackie, his daughter-in-law who was married to Roger & Joanne's oldest son, Lauren, who preceded Roger in death on September 12, 2024. His first grandson, Michael James, preceded him in death on July 16,1991.
We grieve, but as people who have hope.
Visitation will be Friday, July 11, 2025 from 4-7. We will celebrate Roger's life in a worship service on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
Both events will be held at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services West Chapel, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. Eau Claire, WI. Online condolences may be shared at www.lenmarkfh.com.
