Wayne D. Feuling, age 90, of Chippewa Falls, passed away peacefully on June 10, surrounded by family and love.
Wayne was born February 8, 1934 in Arcadia, WI, to Richardine (Baecker) and Donald Feuling. He was their first child and first grandson on the Baecker side. He led an interesting childhood. At a very young age, he traveled (alone) on a train from Racine to Fountain City to help on his Uncle Georgie's farm. At age 17, he proudly joined the U. S. Navy to serve his country and "see the world." He shared many stories of his Navy days and his inability to swim!
He was honorably discharged in May of 1955 and traveled back to the T & C Tavern, which was owned by his parents. He met up again with a lovely lady named Bernadette "Toots" Loew. She became the love of his life and his partner of fun. They married on January 14, 1956 at St. Peter's Church in Tilden. They enjoyed 61 adventurous years together until Toots passed in 2017. Out of this union came three children: Dubug, Squirrel and RanPan!
Wayne was a milkman, grave digger, paper mill worker but found his niche as an owner/operator truck driver for many years. When he and Toots did their many road trips with dear friends, Wayne was the "man behind the wheel." He still drove his van until the end! When he was not driving, he rode shotgun and told the driver how to drive and which way to turn!
Wayne was quite the social butterfly. He just loved to visit with people. He really enjoyed playing cards twice a week with his card buddies, listening to music (polka time!) fishing for 30 years with Toots at Six Lakes Resort in Chetek, stopping with friends at the casino and making his Aunt Eileen's caramels! He made time for everyone.
Wayne was an amazing father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to so many. You always knew Wayne loved you.
He will always be in our hearts but sadly missed by his daughter, Cathy Bergevin; sons, Duane "Dubug" (Felice) and Randy (Cathy) Feuling; grandchildren, Lindsey (Pat) Jordan, Nate (Samantha) Bergevin, Missy (Corey Brown) Feuling, Cory (Jacqueline Olson) Bergevin, Emilee (Jake) Hepfler, Carlee (Wes) Segebrecht and Sissy (Mike) Knopps; great-grandchildren, Bennett, Tatum, Ellis & Tyce, Isaac & Tyler, Cali, Kendall & Payton, Elle & Rosie and Sydney, Kaleb & Kate; his sister, Bev Wild; sister-in-law, Blanche Loew; and brother-in-law, Ken Klimek; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Toots; son-in-law, Rocky Bergevin; parents, Donald & Richardine Feuling; his in-laws, Butz & Louise Loew; sisters, Darlene Adams, Yvonne Ginther, Debbie Klimek and Wynell Feuling; brother, Ronald Feuling; and many in-laws and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22 at Holy Ghost Church in Chippewa Falls. Deacon Sean Hanson will be officiating. Inurnment will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the church.
