Carmen Mardel Feuling
Born: April 14, 1935 Returned Home: June 7, 2025
After 90 beautiful years, Mardel peacefully passed away on June 7, 2025. Mardel was born in Richfield, Idaho to Lloyd Albert Myers (Bert) and Edith Elzada Reed. She lived in Idaho until her family moved to Bothell, Washington, near Seattle. Mardel graduated from Bothell High School in 1954 and soon thereafter married the love of her life, Bernell (Ben) Feuling.
Mardel was, first and foremost, a devoted wife and loving mother, the very heart of her family. She embraced motherhood with joy and gave her children and grandchildren unconditional love and support. She also had a creative spirit and enjoyed crafting, gardening and making her home a warm and welcoming place for all.
She was a constant support to Ben in all of his endeavors, including many building projects, and together they built a life filled with love, faith and service. Mardel raised two devoted daughters who carry her legacy of love and kindness forward. She was always willing to serve in her church and community roles throughout her life. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ben and Mardel lived in Washington until Ben joined the Army. After serving in the Army for 2 years, they moved to Las Vegas. Shortly thereafter, Ben began his 35+ year work as a valet for the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas. Their daughters Tamara and Tyra were both born in Las Vegas during this time.
Mardel and Ben retired to their beloved New Harmony, Utah in the mid-1980's. Over a period of 20 years, they built 3 homes in close proximity to one another. They gained many wonderful friends in New Harmony. After 53 years of marriage, Ben passed away in 2008. Mardel later moved to Northern Utah to be close to her daughters and extended family.
In 2010, Mardel married Arthur (K) Thomasson of Kaysville, UT. They lived together until K's passing in 2022. He provided wonderful companionship at this stage of her life. Although they met later in life, they shared many adventures and enjoyable times together.
Mardel faced life, and death, with grace and a smile. She never complained, even in her final days, offering her warmth and love to those around her until the end.
Mardel is survived by her daughter Tamara (Richard) and Tyra (Spencer) as well as grandchildren Brittany (Dallas), Brady (Natalie), Bracken (Talisha), Brielle (Lincoln), Braiden (Maddi), Brytin (Johnny) and Brynna (Ryan), as well as 17 great-grandchildren.
The family is deeply grateful to the nurses, staff and friends at Abbington Senior Living in Layton, UT for the kindness and care shown to Mardel during her final years.
We will miss her dearly, but our hearts are full of gratitude for her life. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave, the lessons she taught, and the beautiful memories she left behind.
Mardel's services will be held at the New Harmony Cemetery on June 28,2025 at 10am. All are welcome to attend.
