Winnifred Wolf Obituary

Winnifred "Winnie" Wolf

September 14, 1936 - November 13, 2025

On November 13, 2025, Winnie L. Wolf, age 89, peacefully fell asleep in Jesus' arms.

Winnifred L. Wolf was born at home on September 14, 1936, to LaVern and Ida (Edwards) Miller. She attended Coddington Grade School and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1954. After graduating, Winnie went to work for John Gauvin D.D.S., Donley and Muza Attorneys at Law, Chibardun Telephone Co-op and West Wisconsin Telecom, where she retired in January 1985.

Winnie married Fred Stuart in 1956, they later divorced. She went on to meet and marry Wendelin (Windy) Wolf Jr., in 1982.

Winnie was a member of Peace Lutheran Church from baptism to burial. She enjoyed many activities associated with the church. A few being: a member of the first class to attend and graduate 12 years of Sunday school, Junior and Senior choir, a chaperone for the youth to the National Youth Gathering in Texas in 1955, chaperone and cook at Luther Park. Winnie was a part-time Sunday school teacher, a communion assistant, altar guild, usher, treasurer and attended bible study. Winnie had many talents including crocheting and knitting afghans, slippers, stocking caps and Christmas tree skirts as well embroidering countless sets of dish towels over the years for the Fall Bazaar. Winnie loved the Lord. Outside of church, she also helped with Meals on Wheels.

After retiring, Winnie and Windy bought a mini motor home and traveled 48 States, National Parks and Monuments, Canadian Providence, and Mexico. They cruised the Bahamas where Windy got so seasick that he turned green in the face. That would be their only cruise. They enjoyed 17 winters in Arizona where Winnie took up mountain hiking and loved it! Her group hiked Superstition Mountain to Flat Iron and Usery Mountain to the Wind Caves. Winnie loved to travel and loved meeting new friends. Together, Winnie and Windy waded into oceans, Great Lakes, the Gulf of Mexico and Rio Grande, and the mighty Mississippi.

One of her proudest moments was co-sponsor to 22 children in Holy Baptism. Those were Allen Klatt, Dale Klatt, Duane Klatt, Steve Klatt, Cyndi Schauf, LaVern Miller, Michelle Nash, David (Davey) Miller, Natasha (Tasha) Miller-Podratz, Wayne Miller, Kristin Witzel, Bryan Miller, Stacy Dahms, Laurie Werner, Lisa Dahms, Dana Williamson, Jill Larson, Shelvey Hoff, Patricia Simons, Kevin Louis, Debbie Benson and Denise Cole.

Winnie is survived by her beloved cat, Friskie of 16 years, her brother Gerald "Jerry" (Naomi) Miller, sister Elaine Werner, stepchildren, Greg (Marcia) Wolf, Mary Miller, Gayle Miljour, and Shelly Wolf along with their mother Beverly Poeschel, many nieces and nephews along with step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Winnie is preceded in death by her parents LaVern and Ida Miller, her husband Windy Wolf, also by in-laws Wendelin Sr. and Arcella Wolf, brother LaVern Miller, sister-in-law Carol Ann Partridge, brother David Miller, sister Arlene (Dick) Klatt, nephew Wayne (Margie) Miller, great niece Alissa Dael Klatt, sister-in-law Lorraine (Ray) Brunner, Fred Stuart and many relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the Mayo Clinic staff for the excellent care Winnie received while there. Winnie asked that a special thank you be extended to nurses Tracey and Becky. Also, thank you to St. Croix Hospice for their care and direction the last days of Winnie's life. Her final wish was to be at home with her cat, Friskie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will be held following the service at Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery.

I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the Faith. 2 Timothy 4: 7.
