Yvonne Vadner

1940 - 2024

Yvonne Emily Vadner, age 84, of Menomonie, WI, passed away surrounded by family. Yvonne was born on May 29, 1940 in Eau Claire, WI, to parents Byron and Hilda (Jacobson) Aude. She attended Chippewa Falls High School and graduated in 1958.

Yvonne's passion for horses began early in life. She and her sister Sharon joined the Trail Riders Saddle Club, where they excelled in games, showing, and reining horses. This passion led to a lifelong dedication to raising and showing registered Appaloosa horses. Yvonne also created many costumes for the costume class events.

After graduation, Yvonne married Al Dickens and together they were blessed with two boys, Bruce and Adrian. Yvonne continued to train and show horses, sharing her passion for showing horses with her nieces, Pam and Cheryl.

After the marriage ended, Yvonne began a new career in trucking, which tragically ended in 1987 due to an accident. It was during this time she met Jerry Vadner, whom she later married. The couple started working at Treasure Island Casino in Red Wing, MN where Yvonne worked in the uniform department.

This period also marked the beginning of her passion for quilting. After retiring, Yvonne enjoyed spending time with her three grandchildren, often taking them shopping to pick out their own fabric so she could make quilts for them. She also loved baking and sharing her recipes with them. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends traveling to various quilt shops.

In addition to her love of horses and quilting, Yvonne enjoyed sewing, gardening, fishing, baking and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Adrian and his wife, Paula; granddaughters, Stephanie and Samantha (Shane); grandson, Derek; great-granddaughters, Kaylee, Avery and Elizabeth; great-grandsons, William and Jordan; sisters, Marion (Bob), Bonita and Sharon; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her son, Bruce; husband, Jerry; parents, Byron and Hilda Aude; sister, Dorothy Jean; brother-in-law, Brad; and niece, Pam.

A celebration of life is planned at West Creek Event Center in Eau Claire, WI on October 6 from 1-4 p.m. A lunch will be provided.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Neighbors of Dunn County for the wonderful care they provided to Yvonne.

Yvonne will be greatly missed.
