Karl Moorehead Obituary

Karl Eugene Moorehead, 94, formerly of Apollo, passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, in Country Manor Personal Care Home, Kittanning. Born Jan. 6, 1920, in Hyde Park, he was a son of the late William H. and Hazel (Cline) Moorehead. Karl lived in the Apollo area all of his life, and attended Apollo High School. He served our country with the Navy during World War II. Karl worked as a millwright for Allegheny Ludlum, Bagdad plant, for 36 years, retiring in 1982. Karl was a member of the former First United Methodist Church in Apollo and the United Steelworkers Union in Leechburg. He enjoyed car shows, living in the country and loved country music. In addition to his parents, Karl was preceded in death by three wives, Marian Corcetti, Pearl Woods and Elva Cline; sisters, Ethel Romagni and Mary Slee; and brothers, James and William Moorehead. He is survived by his sister, Delores H. Shuster, of Orange City, Fla.; brother, John D. (Esther) Moorehead, of Valparaiso, Ind.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo, with Pastor Sara Wrona officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Armstrong County American Legion Honor Guard. Interment in Vandergrift Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be made in Karl's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, 301 Grant St., Suite 900, Pittsburgh, PA 15215.
