Mary Simmons Obituary

Mary Jane Simmons, 85, of Ford City, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at her residence. She was born April 17, 1927, in Manor Township, daughter of Russell and Mildred (Spencer) Smith. Mrs. Simmons was a member of the Ford Memorial United Methodist Church, Ford City. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are one daughter, Karen (Ron) Fisher, of Ford City; three sons, Darl (Toni) Simmons, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Corey (Lorrie) Simmons, of Sarver, and Greg (Sue) Simmons, of Ford City; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Austin Simmons, who died May 12, 2010; two great-granddaughters, Emma Simmons and Alyssa Fullerton; and an infant daughter in 1948. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at the WELCH FUNERAL HOME, Ford City, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at the Ford Memorial United Methodist Church Ford City with the Rev. Thom Bonomo officiating. Interment will follow in the Ford City Cemetery, Manor Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15225; or The Orphans of the Storm, 111878, State Route 85, Kittanning, PA 16201.
