Raymond D. Shellhammer, 66, of Kiskiminetas Township, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, in UPMC Montefiore Hospital- Pittsburgh.
Born Oct. 8, 1955, in Natrona Heights, he was as son of Elbert and Shirley (King) Shellhammer, of Kiski Township.
Ray was a 1974 graduate of Apollo-Ridge High School. He was employed for a short time for Seasonal Window in Indiana, then worked as a coalminer for R & P Coal Company for 18 years.
He was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Apollo.
Ray enjoyed being with his family and friends. He worked as hard as he could with the disabilities he had.
In addition to his parents, Ray is survived by his brother, Gary (Stacy Gladysiewski) Shellhammer, of Kiski Township; his niece, Megan (Brian) Staller, of Roy, Utah; and his nephew, Ryan (Bethany Wilbert) Shellhammer, of Leander,
Texas.
Friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, in the Curran Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. A blessing service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday with Father Eric Dinga officiating.
Private entombment in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ray's memory to the Apollo Ridge Food Bank, 1268 Old State Road, Apollo, PA 15613.
