Richard Emil "Lopez" Pella, 71, of Ford City, Pa., passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020.
Born on Sept. 17, 1949, in Kittanning, he was the son of Emil A. Pella and Helen Kornasiewicz Pella, of Ford City, Pa.
He was a graduate of Ford City High School, class of 1967. He was a popular musician in several bands, notably The Calientes, Dean Hetrick and the Ramsacks and Evolution. He was a talented Lead guitarist and Bass player. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a fan of all Pittsburgh teams. His family is the owners of the once-popular Paradise Beach, where from its heyday to his last days, he spent most of his time. He took pride in watching a third generation enjoy this beloved place.
He is survived by his son, Matthew R. Pella and grandson, Nicholas P. Tomblin; his daughter, Melissa M. (Pella) Smith, son-in-law, William D. Smith, and grandchildren, Vanessa L. Smith and Luca M. Smith, all of DuBois, Pa.; his niece, Jennifer (Pella) Buchwalter, of Pickerington, Ohio; and niece, Holly (Pella) Taylor, of Springfield, Tenn.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Edward Pella; his sister, Ellen Pella; and daughter, Keli E. Pella. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Mantini Funeral Home Inc., 701 Sixth Ave., Ford City.
A Prayer service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Saturday in Christ, Prince of Peace Parish.
Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
