JERLEAN MATZEDER

JERLEAN MATZEDER Jerlean Matzeder, 87, passed away March 25, 2025, at Northcare Hospice House, North Kansas City, Mo. Jerlean was born March 8, 1938, to Andrew and Ruby(Kell) Meyers in Leavenworth, Kan., where she spent most of her life. She was married to Bernard Matzeder on November 3, 1956, and spent 68 years married to the love of her life. He survives at their home in Independence, Mo. She is survived by her children Kirk and Mary Matzeder, Independence; Brian Matzeder and Julie VanDruff, Winchester, Kan.; Shari and John McKee, Fortuna, Mo., and a special daughter Heather Spies Wooten, Lawrence, Kan. She is survived by her granddaughters Mackenzie Matzeder and Abby Weiss, Federal Heights, Colo., and special grandson Cooper Albright, Lansing, Kan. She is survived by her siblings Donna Meyers, Maxine and Bill Spain, Jim and Cathy Meyers, and Rick and Kathy Meyers. Surviving also are her in-laws Linda Philpot, Ron and Ethel Matzeder, Shirley Matzeder, Roger Matzeder and Terry Matzeder. Also surving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends that loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Ruby Meyers, father-and mother-in-law Edward and Rosemary Matzeder, her twin brother Gary Meyers, brothers-in-law Lawrence, Robert, and Richard Matzeder. She graduated from Leavenworth High School as well as receiving a degree from Kansas State University in Food Management. She was the lunch lady Miss Jerry at North Broadway School. She received her CNA from Kansas City, Kansas Community College. She retired as a CNA/Home Health nurse at St. John Hospital. She also cared for numerous children in her home. She was a member of the Baker's Dozen Bunco Club. According to her wishes, there will be no services.
