Alfonza Wasare Obituary
Born on February 29, 1936, in Savannah, Georgia, Mr. Wasare was the son of the late Rev. Henry Wheeler and Flora Battle Wheeler. He was a proud 1955 graduate of William H. Spencer High School. His love for learning led him to further his education at California State University, East Bay in Hayward, CA; Laney College in Oakland, CA; and San Jose State University in San Jose, CA.
Mr. Wasare honorably served his country with 20 years of distinguished service in the United States Navy, where he dedicated his skills, discipline, and commitment to excellence.
He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Sarah Powell Wasare; two sons, Eric Alphonza H. Wasare of Portland, OR, and Van Barry Wasare of Ceres, CA; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Lynn Wasare; one sister, Edna Wells of Atlanta, GA; two cherished grandchildren, Kanesha Lynn Phillips and James Wasare; and one great-granddaughter, SaRae Lynn Joiner. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
