Columbus, Georgia- Bernadette Marie Ellis, 89, of Columbus, GA passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, August 15, 2018. A funeral Service will be held at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, on Saturday, August 18, 2018 beginning at 12:00 P.M. EST. The interment will conclude the service at The Chapel of the Pines at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. EST.
Bernadette Marie Ellis was born May 16, 1929 in Niort, France to the parents of Julien Lezay and Denise Girard. Bernadette lived in Columbus, GA for 50 years. She traveled and saw the world with her husband who proudly served his county in the United States Military. During his military career, Bernadette devoted her time to lovingly raising her family at home and abroad. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Bernadette was the matriarch of the Ellis family and will forever be missed.
Other than her parents, Bernadette is predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years David E. Ellis, brother, Marcel Lezay, sister, Janine "Ninette" Maitre, brother, Robert Lezay, brother, Michel Lezay, brother, Olivalia Lezay and sister, Monique Lezay.
Survivors include daughters, Christine Sloane and husband Bill of Columbus, GA and Rochelle Ellis of Columbus, GA; sons, Dominique Ellis and wife Dorene of Gulf Breeze, FL, William "Ray" Ellis and wife Jennifer of Atlanta, GA and David J. Ellis and wife Tina of Talbotton, GA; brother, Daniel Lezay of the Bordeaux Region of France; grandchildren, Jason Ellis and wife, Lora of Nashville, TN, John Ellis and wife Georgia of Johns Creek, GA and Brad Ellis of Wilmington, NC and one great granddaughter, Evelyn Ellis.
