Columbus, GA- Celena M. Wood, 88, of Columbus, GA, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Spring Harbor.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, January 23, 2012, at Lemley Funeral Chapel, 6878 Second Avenue West, Oneonta, AL, with Reverend James Elliott of Calvary Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oneonta, AL, according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Wood was born September 18, 1923 in Sanford, FL, daughter of the late Robert Allen Manning and Nora Lee Jenkins Manning Thomas. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was an Episcopalian by faith.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Richard E. Wood, Sr. and two sisters, Betty Manning Phillips and Nancy Thomas Coleman.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Richard E. Wood, Jr. (June Reynolds Wood) of Columbus, GA, granddaughters, Anne R. Wood of New York, NY and Kimberly N. Wood Murray of Memphis, TN, and great granddaughter, Alexis Anne Murray.
In lieu of flowers, those so desiring may make memorial contributions to PAWS, 4900 Milgen Rd., Columbus, GA 31907, Columbus Hospice 7020 Moon Rd. Columbus, GA 31909 www.columbushospice.com, VistaCare Hospice 100 Brookstone Ctr. Parkway Columbus, GA 31904, or a charity of their choice.
