Chattanooga, TN- Charles (Chuck) Earley Gavin IV, 56, of Chattanooga passed away December 25, 2015, Christmas Day in the Hospice Care Center.
Born in Griffin, GA., Chuck spent much of his life in Columbus, GA before moving to Dalton, GA for many years. Chuck made Chattanooga his home 9 years ago.
He was a graduate of Columbus High School and also Auburn University. He received his MBA from Kennesaw University.
Chuck began his career with his family at MFG Chemical and at the time of his death was serving as CEO of the company. He was involved in many professional organizations such as the Specialty Chemical Manufacturing Association (SOCMA).
An avid boater and wine collector, Chuck was also personally and professionally philanthropic, supporting organizations like the Chattanooga Symphony Opera, the Hunter Museum, Tennessee River Gorge Trust and the Chattanooga Aquarium, among others.
He was a former board member of the United Way and an officer of the Horizon Yacht Club for many years.
Survivors are his wife, Kim Gavin; parents, Charles E. III and Carol Ann Gavin; Wartrace, TN; sister, Tamara (Tom) Kasser, Wartrace, TN ; brother, Todd Gavin (Teresa Renz), Dalton, GA; niece, Gillian Kasser, nephews, Mason Gavin, Gavin Kasser and Connor Kasser.
A celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday at 4 PM in the funeral home chapel with Woody Mader speaking.
