Charles W. Harpe, Jr.
February 9, 1927 - November 18, 2021
Tierra Verde, Florida - CAPT. Charles W. Harpe, Jr. USMC (ret), 94, of Tierra Verde, FL passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021.
He was born on February 9, 1927 in Ashland, KY to the late Mabel Harpe and Charles Webster Harpe, Sr. Chuck began his military career at the age of 17 during WWII. He dedicated himself to his corps rising through enlisted ranks then commissioning as an officer. During his 33½ years, he served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam and was highly decorated.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 62 years Norma. Together they had one daughter, Melissa who gave them their only grandson who they both adored and spoiled. He called him Sweetpea from the moment he first held him, and only Pawpa could call him Sweetpea.
Survivors include his daughter, Melissa Moore (Jack) of Columbus, GA; grandson, Chase Moore; special nephew Brett Miller (Mary); nephews, nieces, and their spouses; and many fellow Marines, and friends.

I served with Chuck when he was OIC of the Marine Detachment, Ryukyu Armed Forces Police, Okinawa, 1973-74.
I've never known a finer, more dedicated Marine.
You will be missed, Sir.
