I know your loss still affects you all every day. I just wanted to let you all know that my grandfather, Hoyt Bragg, who coached Charles and Jimmy and Paul when they were growing up thought so much of him. He was proud of all of them, He too passed in July 2011. A man from Little League in Williamsport Pa where they have the LL World Series has contacted me about doing an article on my grandfather, and I would like to mention Charles and his accomplishments in the article. My prayers are with you.

December 21, 2011

Tammy, Nick, & Candace,
I am so sorry to hear about Charles' passing in April. I knew of Charles because of his sporting goods store, and because I was one of Tammy's parachute riggers when she was an NCO and First Sergeant at Echo Co, 1-507th PIR at the Jump School at Ft Benning.
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Wishing you much Peace, Light, Love, & God's Blessings during these 2011 holidays.

Peace,
Kind regards, ~Mark

I just found out about Charles passing last night April 15th. I want to give the family my sincerest condolences. I considered Charles a great friend, team mate, and one of the most competitive men I have ever played with or against. I will never forget our trips to Apalachicola Bay to go deep sea fishing. I loved every second I spent with that man unless I was playing basketball against him. Gonna miss you Big Guy. There will never be another like you. God Bless.

Growing up in the same neighborhood you learn a lot about people. Whenever Charles Wright's name was mentioned it was with integrity and great respect. That is how I will always remember him. Buddy, Shirley, Jimmy,Charles, Paul and Kelley were an awesome family. My prayer for those that remain here is that the wonderful memories of Charles will offer comfort in the difficult days ahead. My life has been blessed even more abundantly by knowing the Wright family. Paul too was a wonderful and caring neighbor to my Mom and Dad years ago. May God give you all peace and comfort.

I was so shocked to hear about Charles. He was a wonderful person. Always smiling and that laugh something I will never forget. Charles, Jimmy, Paul and Mr Wright and I go back many years when I was an Umpire in the Men's Softball league. Charles always kept me straight. I loved that guy and Columbus will surely miss him. I am so sorry for your loss. I will really miss Charles. I didn't know him as well as others, but ate at The Wright Place quite often. I used to kid Charles about being a UGA fan with me being an Auburn fan and one day out of the blue he gave me a brand new Auburn ball cap. I told everyone about that because it showed the true character of Charles, a very nice and giving man that will be truly missed.

We will cherish the many great memories of Charles and his infectious laughter! We had some good times together, and his life has positively affected many other lives. The first time I came across Charles was in the 1966-1967 school year when he, Spivey, and Rodney Baker led Columbus Jr. High School to the Bi-City Championship in the Ninth Grade Basketball Tournament. When I was a sophomore at Jordan and Charles was a senior, we had a new Coach, Billy Tinker, and that was a season of great memories. Charles led the region in scoring, and Rodney and Larry led the team in laughter! It was a lot of fun! We will all miss our brother Charles Wright! What a gift from the good Lord to have known him so well. I'm sure that he has Heaven laughing already...and is up there trying to organized all of the Jordan athletes! John(ny) Trotter

So sorry for your loss. I am Pat & Susan Donahue's pastor & had met Charles at the passing of Pat's mom. They always spoke so fondly of Charles. Our thoughts & prayers are with you.

April 12, 2011

I was shocked to here the news of Charles Wrights death. It brought back memories when he was playing for Ken Sanders softball team. I played against him many times when I was with Dave Carroll Sports. He was a tough competitor and I was always amazed because of his size at how he handled the infield defensively. One interesting thought that comes to mind, Charles never wore his baseball cap, showing off his beautifully groomed hair.
I am sadden by his death, he was one the best softball players I ever played against.

Words cannot say what I feel at this moment. My heart is breaking for the entire Wright family. I gained a profound respect for that man after seeing him care for his momma with such love and gentleness. One of the last times I spoke with him, his sister Kelley and I were at the cafe and we spoke of Ms. Shirley. He shook his head and said "God I miss that woman!". Charles, you will miss her no more. She was waiting for you. Tammy, there are no words. I am so sorry for your loss. You speak of him being such a great husband but you also exemplify what it means to be a great wife. He is definitely loved.

Tammy:
I talked to Charles a couple of weeks ago and he was wearing a bulldog shirt just like I was. He talked about how hopeful he was for the dawgs this year. I have known him for 30 years and just like someone else commented he always had time to talk to you. I knew he was the Man when I first threw him an underhand pitch at Columbus High School and he hit it over the roof of the high school. I just talked to my friend Keith Lambert today and reminded him how long I laughed when Charles hit that softball.

The man was a wonderful athlete but more that that he was a great son, brother, uncle, and friend to so many. He really "stepped up to the plate" when it counted the most. I know my brother is in heaven...if for any reason the sacrifices he made for our mom and dad. I love, respect and admire that man...he certainly left his mark on this earth but he is at peace now and with the ones he loved the most and waiting for the rest of us. I will miss him and that infectious laugh, but even more his cooking because he did it like mom:-)
