Cataula, GA- MSG (Ret) Clarence E. Ellis, Sr. passed away Monday at the age of 85. The son of Alice M. Ellis Holloway and the late Charles Holloway, Mr. Ellis was born August 31, 1932 in Hanover, Virginia.
Upon graduating from high school, Mr. Ellis was a U. S. Army Veteran who retired after thirty years of dedicated service. He was experienced in food service management and operations and was also employed as manager at the Chik-fil-A restaurant.
Mr. Ellis received several awards to include: Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Award, and the Good Conduct Award with 8 Loops. He also received the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces in Vietnam.
He met, fell in love and became a partner in Holy Matrimony to the former Rolesta Boddie on May 14, 1951, a union that lasted sixty-six glorious years. They were blessed with four wonderful children, Clarence E. Ellis, Jr., Rolesta M Forrest, A. Mario Ellis and Shelia Precious Ellis Evans.
He confessed Christ at a young age and was the former pastor of CPT of Faith.
Other than his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Ellis, Sr. and an aunt, Elizabeth Smith. Those left to cherish his memory are: his loving wife, Dr. Rolesta Boddie Ellis; his children, Clarence E. Ellis, Jr. (Phyllis), Rolesta Mae Forrest (John – deceased), A. Mario Ellis (primary caregiver) and Rev. Dr Shelia Precious Ellis Evans; his mother, Alice M. Holloway; grandchildren, Tiffany Hope Ellis, Katherine Christina Ellis, Jessica Renaé Ellis, Naomi Ruth Ellis, Inocente Arturo Milian, Rolesta (Dominique) Hortencia Milian-Brooks, Jac'kie Evans II, Nathanial, Ramanuel, and Deon Terry, Anthony Stuckey, Lena Shields and Jonathan Bell; six great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for MSG (Ret) Clarence E. Ellis, Sr. will be held today at 11:00 am at Faith Worship Center Intl. with Bishop Gregory Blue, officiating and Dr. Ann Hardman, Eulogist. Interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at progressivefuneralhome.com. Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
