Columbus, GA- Sergeant First Class Retired Curtis Luckett passed away Thursday at the age of 88. He resided at 3041 Waddell Drive.
A son of the late Washington and Alberta Adams Luckett, Sgt. Luckett was born in Canton, MS on May 1, 1928. He was U. S. Army Veteran of WWII and the Korean War who served 23 years of dedicated service. He also retired following 20 as a store detective for Kmart on Macon Road. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Hayes Luckett, his beloved daughter, Audrey, son, Curtis, Jr., a great grandson, Deonte J. Day-Clark and two brothers, Ricky Day and Willie Alford.
Survivors include: his son, Gregory Luckett; a daughter, Carolyn Ries; one grandson, Damon Benson; three great grandchildren, Tylon and DeMahn Jackson and Gabrielle Johnson; a great great grandchild, Giavanna Clark; two brothers, Joseph Tucker and George Day; three sisters, Nina Luckett, Dorothy Alford and Linda Jones; two aunts, Jan Rone and Willye Wentworth; a brother-in-law, Ernest Hayes; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Sgt. Luckett will be held Friday, July 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., Graveside at the National Cemetery at Ft. Mitchell, AL. with Full Military Honors accorded. Visitation is Thursday beginning at 3:00 p.m. with a family hour from 5 til 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at progressivefuneralhome.com. Progressive Funeral Home.
