Deborah Avery Obituary

Deborah "D" Avery
January 1, 1956 - January 27, 2022
Columbus, Georgia - Deborah "D" Avery, 66 of Valley, Alabama went to be with the Lord and her family on January 27th, 2022.
Deborah was born January 1, 1956 in Abbeville, AL to the late Lurlene Horton and Donny "Chief" Horton. She had a dedicated career with CB&T/TSYS for 44 years. She was known as a caregiver and a true southern belle. She was a beautiful, precious woman with the most giving heart. She made her mark in this world by treating everyone with endless love and with kindness. She was very proud of all of her children and grandchildren. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Darrell Adkins.
She is survived by her sister Donna Cadena of Columbus, Georgia and brother, Don "Red" Horton of Lilburn, Georgia, her children, Crystal Avery, Matt Avery both of Columbus, Georgia and Josh Mathis of San Antonio, Texas. She will be missed by her grandchildren Caden, Mady, Helena and Ryder and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that everyone pay it forward with an act of kindness to someone as "D" would have.

I will miss her. She was always kind and friendly with me at TSYS. She was so funny she made me laugh.

Debbie was one of the sweetest people I have ever known. When I started work at TSYS she was one of the first people I met and worked for. Always positive and with a smile on her face. She made your day brighter each time you saw her. I don't think she ever forgot anyone's name. Each time we saw each other it was Hi Judy how are you doing. Often we chatted in the cafeteria during breakfast. Debbie I will never forget you, your smile and your wonderful giving heart! Much love and respect!

There are so many words to describe Debbie as she was kind, always smiling, caring, smart, great work ethics, great friend, great manager, mentor, classy, wonderful decorator, warm hearted, sassy when needed. She loved her lil Cayden as we both have a grandbaby Caden/Cayden and would talk about them. I had asked her to try to get our group out of the dungeon as we called our office space in the basement and said she would keep that move in the back of her mind. Well it did not take her long to move us to the highest floor in the campus, her word could be trusted. I have known Debbie since 1991 when we were developing TS2, she was the collection BA. She knew her stuff and was easy to work with, but her heart was taking over facilities decor and making our environment awesome. You could tell her heart and soul was taking care of others, making them comfortable, changing with the time, using her imagination and design desire. She will be missed by TSYS management and by her TSYS friends. Prayers for her family and friends as she now watches over them from above in Gods kingdom.
