Columbus, Georgia - Mrs. Doris Faye Jackson Lester passed away quietly Monday at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center at the blessed age of 90. A native of Temple, TX and the daughter of the late Stanley and Carrie Jackson, Mrs. Lester was a homemaker/Army wife who traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad with her husband. A devout Christian, she was a 52- years member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking and taking care of her family. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, MSG (Ret) William H. Lester and eight siblings.
Survivors include a son, M.C. Phillips, Jr.; two daughters, Joline Phillips Bowles and Carol Lester Hood; seven grandchildren, Marci Boden, Corey Phillips, Michael Wells, Melanie Brown, Rodney Bowles (Princess), Joseph Hood and Moensania Phillips; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Neicie M. Jenkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Lester will be conducted Eleven O'clock AM Tuesday, January 10, 2023 in the sanctuary of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor J.H. Flakes III. She will be laid to rest with her husband at the National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, AL on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Eleven Thirty AM. Visitation is Monday, 1:00 til 5:00 PM at the funeral Home.
