Grief can be so hard, but our hearts truly know Mrs. D is in a better place. I've known Mrs. Dot since I was about a year old. She has changed my life. And I will look back on the legacy she left behind and still today, I aspire to be the person she was. I knew Mrs. D from Edgewood United Methodist Church, or now, Living Grace United Methodist Church. My mother Heather attended church at Living Grace since she was only eight years old and every Sunday Mrs. D gave so generously. Typically, Mrs. Dot gave all the kids in the church little nic-nac toys every once in a while until a certain age that they have grown. My mother said once Mrs. D came up to her and said, " Heather, I will always continue giving gifts to you and your family because you write the sweetest thank you notes. " As she did for my mom, she did for me. She stopped being a lady in the church at a very young age and began to be like a grandparent to me. She used to make ceramic and porcelain statues. A memory I have with Mrs. D is that every Sunday, I would go to her Sunday School class every morning right before it started and give her a hug. I would ask how her day/ week has been and we would just talk and enjoy each other's company. Every once in a while she would give me little gifts that I have and cherish to this day. Once, she gave me a bookmark. It was a golden cross that said, " I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. " It had a little red ribbon tied around it. I have that in my wallet and it doesn't leave because to me, that's a sign she is in my heart. Mrs. D also gave me and beautiful necklace with a tiny red ruby in it. That necklace never comes off. When my mother told me the sad sad news that she has passed, I wasn't sad. I was happy. Not because she wont be around anymore. But because she is out of pain and she is sitting next to the Lord, where she belongs. I know she's looking down and watching out for us because the day she passed, I kept having this peaceful and calming feeling that Mrs. Dot was not in pain anymore. Because of Mrs. Dorothy Daniel's heart, she has changed my life and everyone who ever met her's life, forever. May my wonderful grandmaw rest in peace. I love you, Mrs. Momma Dot! You'll never be forgotten!

We are sorrowful to learn of the passing of a special lady. Dot was our long time friend, and once during my public service brought me a necktie from a trip to Bermuda or from somewhere in the Caribean where she and Bill had gone. An exceptional citizen, Grace Carter, worked with Daniel Appliance and we were all close. We are sad to see Dot leave us, but we rejoice in her memory, that of a talented business person in combination with the finest of character, warm and friendly was she.
