Albany, GA- Emily Joy Bennett, 23 of Albany, GA formerly of Columbus, GA, lost her battle with mental illness on December 13, 2016. Funeral services will be held Saturday December 17, 2016 at 12:00 noon at the chapel of Sherwood Baptist Church. Pastor Brian Kelley will officiate. Committal services will follow on Sunday at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park, GA.
A native of Rome, GA, Emily grew up in Columbus, GA and graduated from Columbus High School in 2011 and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Columbus State University. She moved to Albany, GA after her marriage to Thomas and was employed as a RN at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Emily was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church and the Foundation Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her beloved husband, who she adored, Thomas T. Bennett of Albany, GA, her parents, Dr. Mark and Kris Anders and her siblings, Lisa Williams and her husband, Brad, John Anders and Will Anders all of Columbus, GA, her maternal grandparents, John and Louise Creecy of Fayetteville, GA, and many other loving uncles, aunts and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Dr.'s Patrick and Rebekah Anders.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon in the Atrium at Sherwood Baptist Church.
