Eugene Rome Obituary
May 7, 1944 - October 10, 2021
Columbus, Georgia - Mr. Eugene Rome of Columbus transitioned home peacefully Sunday at Magnolia Manor Nursing Facility. He was 77 years of age.
The beloved son of Mr. Felix Rome and Mrs. Flossie Henderson Walton (Willie C.), Mr. Rome was a Columbus native who was a 1963 graduate of Carver High School. He was a member of Green Hill Baptist Church and was retired following 33 years service as Head of Custodians at Edgewood Elementary School. He was an avid sports enthusiast who was a Atlanta Braves Fan.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Willie and Ervin Rome. Surviving his departure with cherished memories, include: four siblings, Carolyn Daniels, Matilda Walton, Oscar Walton and Richard Walton (Senethia); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Rome will be Friday, October 15, 2021 at 11:00, Graveside at Green Acres Cemetery. The visitation is Thursday, 2 til 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Online expressions can be rendered at progressivefuneralhome.com.

Mr. Eugene was the kindest and sweetest soul! I went to Edgewood as a child and my mother worked there with him for many years. Sending prayers to his family. He was a great man!
