George Henderson Obituary

George E. Henderson, Sr. July 13, 1951- January 21, 2007 COLUMBUS, GA— Mr. George Earl Henderson, Sr. (SSG, Retired) passed Monday at the Emory Hospital in Decatur, GA. He was 56 years old and resided at 542 North Oakley Drive, Columbus. Born in Monroeville, Alabama on July 13, 1951, Mr. Henderson was the son of the late Tommie Henderson, Sr. and Leona Nettles Henderson Wilson. He was U. S. Army Veteran of Desert Storm, retiring after 22 years of service. He was formerly employed with Columbus State University and was currently a mechanic with ITT Services. He was a member of Faith Tabernacle Community Church, Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons and the American Legion Post 267. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Tommie L. Henderson, Jr. and Mary Louise Henderson-Nord and his stepfather, Solomon Wilson Sr. Surviving are: his wife, Margaret Henderson of Columbus; four sons, George E. Henderson (Kisha) of Woodbridge, VA, Marlon J. Henderson and Tommy J. Henderson of Columbus and Sherman D. Henderson of Reston, VA; four grandchildren, Alazjha Bonner, George C., Trinity A. and Tunasia S. Henderson; a brother, Solomon Wilson, Jr. of Monroeville, AL; three sisters, Mary Cunningham of Moss Point, MS, Bernice Henderson Salters (Augustus) and Alberta Wilson of Monroeville; a special niece, Pamela Wilson of Columbus; his goddaughter, Cynthia Millsap of Columbus; a host of other relatives and friends. Homegoing Services for Mr. Henderson will be Monday, 12 Noon at Faith Tabernacle Community Church where Rev. R. George Plummer is pastor. Rev. Charles Bauknight will officiate. Interment will follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Full Military Honors accorded. Visitation is Sunday, 2 til 5 PM at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence at 11:30 the day of the service. Arrangements entrusted to the staff of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
