Seale, AL- Jack B. Tibbs, Sr., 80, of Seale, AL, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm EST, on Friday, November 30, 2012, at Vance Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery and the family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 EST at the funeral home.
Jack was born on September 25, 1932, in Rural Retreat, VA, the son of the late Robert Newberry Tibbs and Thelma Rose Willard Tibbs. He retired from the US Army after 27 years, serving in both Vietnam and Korean Conflict. During his service he received the National Defense Service Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Purple Heart and several other awards and honors. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and keeping up with his yard.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Jean Shepherd, three brothers, Bill, Bob and Ed, and three sisters, Nancy, Jean and Thelma.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Tibbs; children, Jack B. Tibbs, Jr., wife Suzanne of Eufaula, AL, Rose Marsh, of Lakeland, FL, Lola Tibbs Everritt, husband Ricky of Phenix City, Lanny Tibbs Austin, husband Brent of Phenix City, and Jerald Tibbs, wife Lydia of Waverly Hall, GA; sister in-law, Pearl Mince of Burns, TN; brother, Joe Tibbs, wife Mallie of Maidens, VA; 19 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; his faithful friend Kojack much extended family members and many caring friends.

Its alway hard to heard of a Loved one passing from this life as we know it on earth and how we will miss them dearly, but When your Dad closed his eyes and opened them to Heaven, we have to rejoice in knowing that there is no more saddness or pain. He is with JESUS and all that who have traveled this path before him. You will see him again and oh what a Blessed reunion that we be. The Tibbs family will be in my prayers.

What a blessing to be a part of this family. Papa and Grannie welcomed and embraced Amelia, Parker, and me unconditionally when Jack, Jr and I married eleven years ago. Lola, Rickey, Lanny, Brent, Jerald, and Lydia... Thank you, my brothers and sisters!
