Dr. Fortson family,
I am very sorry to learn of the news of Dr. Fortson's passing. I was a Forestry student in the early to mid 80's and always looked very forward to his class. He had a great sense of humor and definately made the material interesting. He was a wonderful teacher and one of my very favorites of all time!! I will always have fond memories of him.

Dr. Fortson continues to teach through my classes every year. Thousands have and will continue to learn the importance of the "Fortson Fudge Factor" when analyzing the risk of investments. Thank you for teaching me to understand the real purpose of education.

The Fortson Family,
I was an MBA student in 1987 and Dr. Fortson was the best Professor I had at UGA. His dedication to teaching and to his students was impressive. I did not know that he was a Christian, but I do remember him as a great example of kindness and fairness while still being demanding. Please accept my deepest condolences.

Dear Fortson Family,
We were so sorry to hear of Jim's death and know he will be missed. I often heard of what kind and thoughtful man he was by my sister and brother. I know he was loved and admired by all those who knew him and was impressed by his intelligence and wit the few times I met him. He certainly handled his illness with great courage and a positive attitude for many years. Please know we are thinking of you and you are in our prayers.
Love,
Lisa and Matt Smith

The Fortson Family,
I knew Dr. Fortson in the 1970s when I was a graduate student in finance at UGA. He was instrumental in my decision to pursue the PhD and I've never forgotten all the time and effort he devoted to helping students. He was a great guy. Please accept my deepest condolences.

Carolyn & family - I've known Jim since 1960 when we worked together in the Rock House where computing at UGA started. I've retired and now live away from Athens, but wanted you to know how very fond I was of Jim while working with him off and on for all those years. He was truly a wonderful man! My sympathy & condolences to you & your family.
