James Moon Obituary

Waverly Hall, Georgia - James A Moon (Jim), born March 15, 1952 in Winchester Virginia, has died of natural causes on April 18, 2022 at his residence in Waverly Hall, GA.
He is predeceased by his parents, William J Moon and Irene S Moon.
Surviving relatives are siblings Anne Moon of Endicott, NY, Gerald Moon of Rochester, NY, Michael Moon of Hancock, NY, and Elaine Spaulding with her husband Stephen Spaulding of Myrtle Beach SC. Other surviving relatives are Aunt Lucille Dickenson, nieces and nephews Vanessa Moon, David Moon, Paul Moon, Holly Moon, Michael Moon and Patrick Moon.
Jim attended Coatesville Senior HS in Pennsylvania where he was active in scouting, and was proud to be one of the youngest scouts to earn the rank of Eagle Scout at age 14 and received three Palms. He earned a BS degree in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh. There he was a member of the ROTC and the Pershing (a precision rifle drill team). Jim fulfilled his military obligations by serving in the US army for 10 years with tours in Germany. He finished his career as Chief, Systems Division- G3 Directorate of Operations and Training at Fort Benning GA.
Jim enjoyed shooting sporting clays and skeet as a life member of the Wagon Wheel Sporting Club. Jim was an accomplished home cook and enjoyed reading, especially about history. Jim relished fishing on the Susquehanna River in the Wyoming Valley, PA where the family cottage was located and he made the trip from Georgia each summer.
Jim's final resting place with be at St. Joachim's Cemetery in Meshoppen, PA

I shot skeet and sporting clays with Jim at Wagon Wheel. I always enjoyed seeing Jim at the club. He will be missed by his fellow shooters. RIP Jim.
