Phenix City, AL- Jimmy O'Neal "Neal" Norris, Sr., 72 of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully, Saturday evening, February 9, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm EST Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Auburn Heights Baptist Church in Phenix City with Dr. Wayne Scarborough officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens and the family will receive friends this evening (Monday) from 6 to 8 pm EST at the funeral home.
Mr. Norris was born June 8, 1940 in Geneva, AL to the late James Cecil Norris and Dulcy Mae Daughtry Norris. He was retired from The Concrete Company in Columbus, GA with 30 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and raising hunting dogs. Mr. Norris loved his church and pastor; he was dedicated member of Auburn Heights Baptist Church. He also enjoyed the fellowship shared with the men's Sunday School Class every Monday. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Terry Wade Norris, sister, Carolyn Adams and a brother, Billy Ray Norris.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shirbie Jane Blue Norris of Phenix City, AL, daughter, Lisa Garcia and husband Rene of Columbus, GA, son, Jimmy Norris and wife Kelly of Owensboro, KY, (3) grandchildren, Jayson Leatherland, Jared Norris and Kayla Norris, numerous cousins, extended family, church family and many caring friends.
