Columbus, Georgia- Mr. Jimmy Shingles 45, of Columbus, Georgia died Sunday, September 23, 2012. Funeral Services will be held 3 PM Thursday, September 27, 2012 at St. James AME Church, with Rev. Richard A. Washington, Sr. pastor and Rev. Scottie Swinney, Eugolist. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park according to Sconiers Funeral Home, 836 5th Ave., Columbus, GA. Visitation will be 1-7 PM Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the funeral home. Mr. Shingles was born Febraury 7, 1967 in Jacksonville, FL; the son of Jimmie C. & Mary H. Shingles. He graduated from Jean Ribault Senior High in 1985. Jimmy attended West Side Skill Center in Jacksonville, Florida, and worked in the automotive business as a service advisor for various dealerships. Jimmy was the owner and CEO of Columbus Mobile Detail, L.L.C. Jimmy actively participated in the music ministry at St. James A.M E. Church; he served as the percussionist for over 15 years; he also served on the bus ministry. Jimmy was an active band booster parent for the Hardaway Marching Hawks. Survivors include a wife, Janine R. Shingles and a daughter, Ciara R. Shingles of Columbus, Georgia, parents, are Jimmie C. & Mary H. Shingles, sister, Artelia Shingles, brothers, Albert Shingles (Sheila) and Maurice Shimgles (Pamela) all of Jacksonville, Florida; sisters-in-law, Janett Walker (Gerald) of Columbus, GA and Raquel Johnson (Daryl) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; uncles,aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Jimmy was a wonderful person. Though it has been many years since he has been apart of my life. I have thought of him on many occassions and have always smiled remembering his kind heart and wonderful sense of humor. He definitely left an impact on my life and in my heart. RIP Mr. Jimmy. You were always so helpful if I needed help on the property. I remember when I was up on a ladder in a rainstorm trying to repair a 20ft. door and you came over and had the door closed in no time at all. Great guy. My condolences to the family.
