Columbus, GA- Rev Mrs Jociel J. Pitts Smith, 99, 906 27th St. Columbus, GA, died Sunday, April 1, 2018 her residence. Funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Holsey Monumental CME Church 6028 Buena Vista Rd, Columbus, GA with Pastor Tommie L Benjamin officiating. Interments will follow at Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be today Friday, April 6, 2018 at the funeral home from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. according to Hill-Watson Memorial Chapel at Rose Hill LLC 2919 Hamilton Rd, Columbus GA. Rev. Smith was born in Jefferson County GA. to the late Roger James Jenkins and Sarah Smith. Rev Smith was preceded in death by her husbands John R, Pitts Jr. and Thomas B. Smith. She was the first female to be a licensed taxi driver in Columbus, GA. and one of the first licensed female minister for the CME church in the state of GA. Rev. Smith leaves to cherish her precious memories two daughters Edwma Brown and Joycelyn (Robert) Adkins; two sons John (Shirley)Pitts and James (Ruby) Smith; sister Sarah Ashe; 22 grandchildren; 65 great-grand children; 42 great-great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
