Joe Hunt Obituary

Joe Hunt October 23, 1920- August 28, 2007 COLUMBUS, GA— Mr. Joe Hunt of 834 Lawyers Lane, Columbus, passed Tuesday at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home. He was 86 years old. Born in Russell County, AL on October 23, 1920, Mr. Hunt was the son of the late George and Louise Hunt. He was a member and Deacon at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was employed with Civil Services, Ft. Benning, GA retiring after 20 years of service. He was a WWII Navy veteran. Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Annie E. Hunt; a son, Keith L. Shepherd-El; nine grandchildren; a sister, Mamie Porter, all of Columbus; four sisters-in-law, Alberta Elston, Mary O'Neal (Walter), Selma McLeod (Lowell), all of Columbus and Aurelia Sheppard (Jeffery) of Seoul, Korea; seven brothers-in-law, Miller O. Henry and Alford Henry of Columbus, Albert Henry (Lindsey) of Seattle, WA, E. C. Henry (Charlyn) of Nathalie, VA, Burrell Henry and Louis Henry of Chicago, IL and Willie L. Henry (Ruby) of San Diego, CA; a god daughter, Terina Kegler of Columbus; a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Homegoing Services for Mr. Hunt will be Tuesday, 12 Noon at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse Gary, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, 1 til 5 PM at the funeral home. The family will receive friends and the cortege will depart from 4670 Farley Drive at 11:30 the day of the service. Arrangements entrusted to the staff of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
