Johnnie Core Obituary

Johnnie Mae Core December 29, 1910 - February 2, 2009 COLUMBUS, GA — Mrs. Johnnie Mae Core, 98, of 2403 Gould Street, Columbus, died Monday, February 2, 2009 at VistaCare Hospice, Columbus. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. today Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Mt. Gilead A.M.E. Church with the Reverend Fredrick Sherrod officiating. Burial will follow in Green Acres Cemetery, according to Hill-Watson Memorial Chapel, Columbus, GA. Family and friends will gather at the residence at 10:00 a.m. Mrs. Core was born December 29, 1910 in Talbot County, GA, a daughter of the late Missouri Malone Mounds and Marshall Mounds. She was a retired homemaker after more than 65 years of employment with the Dr. F.M. Miller Family. Mrs. Core was a faithful member of Mt. Gilead A.M.E. Church for more than 75 years having served with the Stewardess Board, the Usher Board serving as President, Trustee Board, Pastors Aid Board and the Floral Club. Mrs. Core, affectionately known as Aunt Johnnie Mae, was a member of the Lady Esther Social Club, Thrift Savings Club and Hesters Choice Chapter #44 OES Modern Free Masons. She was predeceased by her husband, Archie Core. Survivors include a sister, Gussie Bell Mays and a devoted niece, Johnette Kelly, both of Columbus, GA; a devoted god-son/cousin, Lloyd Thompson of Phenix City, AL; other nieces and nephews to include: Minnie Bell Dorsey, Jeroldine Dozier, James Rayford, Essie Jones, Annie Mae Duncan, Ethel Hightower and Johnnie Dozier, all of Columbus, GA, Freddie Wright of Kansas City, MO, Dorothy Howell of Box Springs, GA; several other nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by a special cousin, Betty Springfield, the extended family of Dr. F.M. Miller, the Mt. Gilead AME Church Family and loyal friends.

During the Bereavement of Ms Johnnie Mae. I will Always Remember the Love that Ms Johnnie Mae showed The Kids On 27th Avenue and the Very Special Bond that she Created with My Daughter, 'LeLe'!! She will be missed But she had Certainly Lived a Long Life, Knowing that While she was Here on Earth, An Angel for God Ms Johnnie Mae was and The Love that she Showed to ALL Around her will Forever be in their Hearts. She is Resting Now and Definitely Fellowshipping with Our Heavenly Father; In Peace and 'NO' More Pain!!
