Dear Sue, I am so sorry for your loss of your father. He was my dr until my late twenties. He saved me from nearly dying from asthma many times. I was always glad to see him sick or well. I was born in 1981. Dr. Chastain was my pediatrician. He was also my wife's pediatrician. I still have his book on child rearing that I will pass along to my children. What a great doctor! I remember the pink Super Bubble gum he always kept handy in his coat pocket and the bowties he always wore. His professionalism and kindness left an indelible mark upon so many of us throughout his years of medical practice and beyond. God bless you Dr. Chastain. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

My two brothers and I were patients of Dr. Chastain. We still talk about him and how nice he was to all of us. I have a daughter now and cannot find a doctor who can stand up to his professionalism and character. I can fondly remember when he talked to me about going to a GYN. I had to get an exam before college and he told me that i could stay with him as long as i felt comfortable but i should consider going to another physician since i was "growing up". That was a sad day for me. He will truly be missed.

I am saddened to here of Dr.Chastain's death. My Aunt and I were talking about him last Thurs. night. She is 70 and I am 44,he was mine and my sisters Dr til we moved from Columbus. He seen my cousins also til they were grown.I have a new grandbaby and my Aunt and I were talking about Dr.Chastain's treatments, anetodes, and how he always fixed you up.He was a great Dr. they probably broke the mold when they made him,he was definitely one of a kind and I've never seen another who was in his league. Doctors today could use a page from his book. One of the sayings my aunt remembered from a little book she was given was something like "There's no child that won't take medicine only a parent that don't know how to give it."He really touched everyone, parents and children that he treated if you were his patient you got well.Prayers to all his family my God bless.

I remember when Dr Chastain was in with Dr. A J Kravtin in a house that later became the Goetchius house restaurant. He was the physician for the Anne Elizabeth Shepherd Home for my best friends that lived there right across the street. He made house calls both he and his Dr. partner, there were so many children that he treated, that grew up and he treated them as well. May your family have peace as he had blessed so many families with his dedication to children!

It is with much sadness to hear of Dr. Chastain's passing. He was my pediatrician from birth thru my teen years. He took excellent care of me and always got me well very quickly. How can I forget the bow ties and why he used them! He was my sons pediatrician from birth thru teen years also. What an excellent doctor to have his office open every day of the week and encourage you to call him at home anytime. I still have to this day the information sheets he gave out along with the red booklets. I loved the way you got your medications before leaving his office, how convenient. I saw Dr. Chastain several times within the last 6 years and when he saw me he remembered me being his patient. How sweet is that! You were the best of all Doctors and you will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers to all of the family.

Dr Chastian was our baby doctor all our childhood. He was sweet. I didn't like the shots he gave but he did get us well with usually one visit. I remember when he used to make house calls. He was giving me a shot and he knew I was scared and he said "now you tell me when to take it out." I said "take it out!" He laughed and said "it was already out." haha Thanks Dr Chastain.....

Dr. Chastain was my children's doctor from the day they were born thru college. I did not realize how wonderful it was to have a doctor available anytime - day or night - and be able to call him at home! He preferred to open his office to stitch up my boys than for us to take them to the ER. He also opened his office every Sunday after church. I wish I had saved all of the info sheets he would give out for regular check-ups. They had so much valuable information and were extremely funny.

So sorry to hear of Dr Chastain passing. I first encountered him when I was in college. I was doing part time tele-marketing, well I called his house. Just a random call, I did not know who he was. He introduced himself and quickly informed me he had no use for the product I was selling but he offered me a job working in his office. He liked my phone ediquite. I promply sent him a letter the next day, thanking him for the job offer, however I was not in the market for a job. I was so encouraged by his words through the years I often reflected back on that job offer. Thank You Dr Chastain for your kind words that helped a person not only that day but through life. I pray your family be in peace, knowing the lives you touched. Rest in Peace Dr Chastain. Forever greatful, Mary Joy Carter

Dr Chastain was my doctor until I was too old to go to him any longer. I know I was in my early 20's and would still see him if I had a cold. He always could "make me well" my mother thought just to see him but it usually meant a shot. What a great man and doctor. You will be missed. My prayers and thoughts are with the family at this time.

Dr. Chastain was my doctor until I was 21. I loved him dearly, as did my whole family. In 1964, when I was only 2, I had a horrible accident which in today's world would have required plastic surgery on my face. Back then, though, my family did what they always did and went to our Dr. Chastain; he stitched it up masterfully! Even in adulthood, the first thing he would look at when he saw me was his handiwork. What a great man; he will be missed.

My deepest sympathy to the family. He was my pediatrician as well as my children's. After we moved to Warner Robins, I still drove to Columbus for him to treat my children. You knew he would make you feel better and that usually involved a shot!!! Loved him!! You could call him anytime at his home and knew he would answer not a machine!! Rest in peace Dr. Chastain!!

Thank you , Dr. Chastain, for being a new mother's best friend and for taking such good care of the whole family.
