Columbus, GA- Dea. Joseph R. "Joe" Ellison, 78, of Columbus, GA passed Friday, November 7, 2014 at Columbus Hospice, Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held at 12 noon EST, Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Dr. Patrick T. Brown, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is today from 2 - 8 p.m. EST according to Taylor Funeral Home, Inc.
Dea. Ellison was born January 16, 1936 in Columbus, GA to the late Willie West and the late Ethel Ellison Fields. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and retired from the Royal Crown Cola Plant.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Pearl Ellison of Columbus, GA; two sons, Milton Ellison of Chula Vista, CA and Joseph Ellison of Columbus, GA; three daughters, Mary Francis and Margie (Minister Robert) Kerns of Columbus, GA and Sharon (Silas) Davis of Austin, TX; 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
