Columbus, GA- Platoon Sergeant Retired Julius Taylor, Jr., 84 of Columbus passed away peacefully Monday evening at his home.
Born in Millry, Washington County, AL and the son of the late Julius, Sr. and Melinda R. Taylor, PSG Taylor was a U. S. Army Veteran, retiring following 26 years of dedicated service. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of Uchee Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, and also a member of the National Rifles Association, VFW and was a Mason.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Frances Miller Taylor, a son, Kevin B. Taylor, and two siblings, Ethel M. Roper and Marie A. Green.
Survivors include: his daughter, Rosiland Y. Witherspoon (Dr. Aaron); two sons, Gary V. Taylor and Freddrick L. Taylor (Wynette); daughter-in-law, Delisia Taylor; eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, a brother, Chester Taylor; two sisters, Claudine Chaney (Richmond) and Bettye R. Johnson; loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Sgt. Taylor will be held Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 12 noon at the Progressive Chapel with interment in Main Post Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
