Kenneth Rudolph Hilyer January 26, 1933 November 4, 2004 TIFTON, GA— Kenneth Rudolph Hilyer of Tifton and St. Marks, FL, died Thursday, November 4, 2004, following a long illness. Mr. Hilyer was born in Fremont, Nebraska, on January 26, 1933, the son of Otis Carroll and Christina Rudolph Hilyer. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, to whom he was married on June 3, 1989. Also surviving are three sons, Jeffrey Kenneth (Raylene) Hilyer, McDonough, Ga., and their daughter Mary Kay; Alan Carroll (Lauri) Hilyer, Raleigh, N.C., and their daughters, Noel Christina and Abby Alana; and Joel Leon Hilyer, Charleston, S.C.; and three stepchildren, Jeffrey Lee Knotts, Hahira, Ga.; Kyp Michael (Dawn) Knotts, Ty Ty, Ga., and their children, Justin Michael and Jordan Alexandria; and Bethany K. (Aubrey III) Michael, Lenox, Ga., and their children, Sarah Elizabeth, Aubrey Lee IV, and John Ashton. He is also survived by two brothers, Earl (Muriel) Hilyer, Fairhope, Ala.; and Leon (Mary) Hilyer, Troy, Ala.; and five sisters, Jean (Max) McGlamry, Columbus, Ga.; Lois (Henry) Gresham, Columbus, Ga.; Mary Esther McCart, Dothan, Ala.; Ruth Ann (Lamar) Powers, Phenix City, Ala.; and Carolyn (Tex) Helms, Phenix City, Ala.; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. He received his BS in Physical Education at Troy State College in 1958, his Masters of Education at Auburn University in 1959, and his Juris Doctorate at the University of Georgia in 1969. He was a veteran of the US Army. He played professional baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals Association from 1951-1958. He practiced law in Tifton since 1969. A memorial service will be held at St. Anne's Episcopal Church with The Very Reverend Jacoba Hurst officiating on Monday, November 8, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service in the parish hall on the church grounds.
