Lenora Wells Hogan Bailey March 4, 1927- May 28, 2005 
COLUMBUS, GA— Lenora Wells Hogan Bailey, 78, of Columbus, wife of George E. Bailey, passed away peacefully in her sleep, May 28 at their vacation home in Okatie, SC.  
Funeral services  will be held at 11 a.m. today, May 31, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Chuck Hasty and the Rev. David Matthews officiating. A private family burial will follow according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. Mrs. Bailey was born in Tampa, Fla., on March 4, 1927, the only child of L.A. and Roberta Wells. Their family moved to Columbus in the late 1920's where Lenora lived for the rest of her life. She was a 1944 graduate of Columbus High School and a 1948 graduate of the University of Georgia majoring in mathematics and where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She married Eric Eugene (Gene) Hogan, Sr., in 1948 and was widowed in 1990 when Gene died of ALS. She was a homemaker, substitute teacher and math tutor for many years. She was an avid tennis player all of her adult life and was a former member of the Women's Senior Tennis League at the Columbus Country Club. She was a member of the Ivy Garden Club and longtime Bridge enthusiast. She served as a docent at the Columbus Museum. She had a great love of theater, music and art and enjoyed painting as a hobby. She loved the adventure of travel and saw much of the world during her lifetime. Mrs. Bailey was a former member of First Baptist Church of Columbus and a current member of First Presbyterian Church of Columbus where she and George were members of the J. Calvin Reid Sunday School Class. Survivors include her husband, George E. Bailey; son and daughter-in-law, Eric E. Hogan, Jr., and Roxy W. Hogan and their children, Hannah W. Hogan and Hayley G. Hogan of Tybee Island, GA; son and daughter-in-law, David H. Hogan and Jackie F. Hogan and their son David Wells Hogan of Augusta, GA; step-daughter, Helen Elizabeth Bailey of Macon, GA; a step-son, George E. Bailey, Jr., and his wife Laura and their four daughters, Emily, Kate, Margaret and Maddie of Newnan, GA.
