Columbus, GA- LTC (Ret.) David L. Roberts, 66, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, September 16, 2018, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 24, 2018, at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA. The visitation will immediately follow the service.
Mr. Roberts was born on June 14, 1952 in Columbus, GA to Janie Traylor Roberts and the late John C. Roberts, Jr. of Columbus, GA. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia in 1974 and a Judicial Degree from Mercer University in 1977. He was a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, Association of the United States Army, and the Reserve Officers Association.
Mr. Roberts practiced law in Columbus and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Judge Advocate General Corps. He was Captain of the Rifle Team at the University of Georgia and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. His passions included photography, knifemaking, reading, and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Survivors other than his mother, include his wife, Joy Johnston Roberts of Columbus, GA and a daughter, Jacqueline Roberts Popp (Matthew Popp) of Apex, NC.
