Columbus, GA- SFC (Ret) Luz Stella Llanos-Hernandez, 70, of Columbus died July 21, 2015 at Gentiva Hospice.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 1, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor L. Darnell Skinner, Jr officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Luz Stella was born June 20, 1945 in Huila, Colombia. She was a U. S. Army veteran retiring with 23 years of service. Luz Stella was a Catholic by faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julio Cesar Llanos, Sr.
Survivors include her two sons, Julio C. Llanos, Jr (Zaire) of Columbus, and Alexander Llanos (Krista) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, four grandchildren, Liany Llanos, Julio Llanos III, Vincent Llanos and Ava Grace Llanos. Other survivors include several close family members and friends along with numerous family members in Colombia, South America.
The family has an account in her name at the American Cancer Society for donations in her name.

I remember Mrs. Luz when she was a student at Columbus Technical College. She was such a sweetheart with a genuine spirit. I loved to hear her life stories about her childhood and her family whenever I'd help her out in the library. As an Army Brat myself, Mrs. Luz and I would share stories of our travels. She was truly one of God's angels and she will be tremendously missed. I send my thoughts and prayers to her family.
