Holo, Marilyn 11/03/1939 ~ 07/16/2014 EL CAJON -- Marilyn Joan Holo, 74, died peacefully at her home Thursday, July 16, of pancreatic cancer. She was born in Morris, IL on November 3, 1939 to Howard and Florence "Hazel" Holo. She grew up in Anaconda, Montana where she graduated high school and met Dale Ekstrom. Soon after graduation, she and Dale moved to California to get married and start a family. Marilyn worked for the County of San Diego, Health and Human Services, as a supervisor word processor for more than 35 years. She retired about ten years ago. Marilyn spent much of her retirement taking care of other people. She was a loving parent, sister, daughter and friend. What she enjoyed most was spending time with family and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her sister Ada Barnett and her husband James Barnett and son Mark Ekstrom. She is survived by two children, Monty Ekstrom of San Diego and Julia Ekstrom of El Cajon; two sisters, Ona Dyas of San Diego and Lorraine Geary of Oregon; a daughter-in- law Dana Ekstrom of Arizonia; 3 grandchildren Allen, Adam, and Kari Ekstrom and 1 great- grandchild Aidan Mixson-Ekstrom; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 7929 La Mesa Blvd., La Mesa, CA 91942. Reception to follow.
