Columbus, Georgia - Mary A. Buckner, passed away on September 10, 2021. A visitation of family and friends for Mary will be held Friday, September 17, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus. A celebration of Mary's life will occur Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, 4400 Old Cusseta Rd, Columbus, GA 31903.
And so it was on March 3, 1948, Mary A. Buckner, the fifth child of nine siblings was born here in Columbus, Georgia to the late Reverend Otis and Beatrice Rogers Buckner.
Judge Buckner attributed her success to her strong family and religious background. Surviving her with precious memories are her son, Jontell Buckner; one granddaughter, Kassidy Janelle Buckner; daughter, Jackie Anderson; five siblings, Mrs. Queen Esther (Eural, Sr.) Chestang, Air Force Ret. SGT. Major Zacchaeus (Dorothy) Buckner, Ms. Agnes Buckner Evans, Ms. Hassie Lorene Buckner, Ms. Naomi Buckner.
The family of Judge Mary Buckner is eternally grateful for the love and support rendered during her transition into eternal life. Thank you very much for the cards, flowers, and kind expressions of sympathy. Your support at this difficult time was very much appreciated and of great comfort to all of the family. The family would like to offer special thanks to Cathy P. Dunlap for her loyal and dedicated service to Judge Buckner over many years as an administrative assistant, friend, and advocate.
