Mary C. Wohlwender June 20, 1914- May 30, 2006 AMERICUS, GA— Mary C. Wohlwender, 92, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus, GA. Graveside services were held on Thursday, June 1, 2006, in Parkhill Cemetery, with Father Tom Jones officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road. Mrs. Wohlwender was born June 20, 1914, in Columbus, GA, wife of the late Ed Wohlwender, attorney, farmer and forester. He was the recipient of many state awards for Soil and Water conservation and also Wildlife preservation. Mrs. Wohlwender lived in Columbus until she moved to Americus, GA, in 1959. She was a member of the Junior League, National Society of Colonial Dames of America in Georgia, Daylily Garden Club of Columbus, GA, and the Azalea Garden Club of Americus, GA. She served devotedly on the Altar Guild of Trinity Episcopal Church in Columbus, GA, and the Altar Guild of Calvary Episcopal Church in Americus, GA. Mrs. Wohlwender is survived by a daughter, Mary W. Crisp of Americus, GA, and a granddaughter Mary Virginia Crisp of Leesburg, GA.
