Columbus, Georgia - Ms. Matilda Ann "Tillie" Walton was born on August 11, 1950 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Willie C. "Bill" and Floyd Lee Walton. She departed this life on Sunday, April 9, 2023 in Columbus, Georgia.
Matilda matriculated in the schools in Muscogee County graduating with the 1968 class of Carver High School. She was an avid talker who would talk to any and everybody.
If you ever needed a riding partner Matilda, was the one to call.
Ms. Walton was preceded in death by her father and mother, three brothers, Ervin Rome, Eugene Rome, and Willie Rome, a niece Sandra Rome, and great nephew, Nico Rome.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories a very devoted sister Carolyn Walton Daniels: two brothers, Oscar Walton and Richard Walton (Senethia); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, to include devoted cousins, Myrtis Ann Rome, Mae Savage, Ardrenia Walton, and devoted friend Ilene Bryant, other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Ms. Walton will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 12:00 PM in the Chapel at Progressive with interment at Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will b held on Thursday, April 13, 2023 beginning at 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM

My sincere condolences and prayers for her family and friends. Pray that your fond memories comfort you. I met Tillie in 2004 and we instantly became friends. She had such a sweet and loving spirit. When Ms. Flossie passed, I would visit and Tillie would always make me laugh . May God bless each of you. Love always, Neva
