Mattie Lou Lucas October 18, 1955 - August 24, 2008 WAVERLY HALL, GA — Ms. Mattie Lou Lucas "Doll", 52, of 1342 Mt. Airy Road, Waverly Hall, died Sunday, August 24, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2008 at St. John C.M.E. Church of Waverly Hall with the Reverend Sam Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke C.M.E. Church Cemetery of Waverly Hall, according to Hill-Watson Memorial Chapel, Columbus, GA. Visitation is today from 1:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 2919 Hamilton Road in Columbus. Ms. Lucas was born October 18, 1955 in Harris County, GA, the daughter of Reva Hill of Columbus and the late Bennie L. Lucas. She was a graduate of Harris County High School and was employed by the Harris County Sheriff's Department for 12 years as a Detention Officer. Ms. Lucas was a member of Bluff Springs C.M.E. Church. Other than her father, she was predeceased by her god mother, Mattie L. Scott, and four brothers. Survivors other than her mother include her significant other, Joe C. Ousley of Waverly Hall; two sons, Mr. Peteric Lucas (Franceis) of Talbotton, GA and Monreko Walton of Waverly Hall; a daughter, Mrs. Kokeity Grant (Voshawn) of Fort Eustis, VA; four brothers, Mr. Bennie L. Lucas, Jr., of Warm Springs, GA, Mr. Walter L. (Rhonda) Lucas of Columbus, Mr. Theotis Lucas of LaGrange, GA and Mr. Willie S. Williams of Hoganville, GA; three sisters, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Hixson of LaGrange, Mrs. Clotee Copeland and Mrs. Alzidia Wilber (Willie), both of Columbus; three grandchildren, Isis Walker of Talbotton, Janiya Grant and Tyeak Holsey, both of Waverly Hall; special friends, Mrs. Sarah Strum of College Park, GA; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and friends to include the Harris County Sheriff's Department.
