Michael Karl Redmond September 3, 1951- June 10, 2006 HUNTSVILLE, AL— Michael Karl Redmond, 54, died Saturday, June 10, 2006. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2006 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Valley, AL. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home and Friday from 1 until 3 p.m. at Johnson-Brown Funeral Home in Valley, AL. The service will be officiated by Rev. Shirley Harrison. Michael was born September 3, 1951 in Columbus, GA. He lived in Valley, AL. prior to moving to Huntsville nine years ago. Michael passed away in his sleep in Amman, Jordan, where Michael said was so close to many biblical locations that it was awe-inspiring. Michael was employed with Navigator Development Group as Personnel Manager of the Jordan International Police Training Center. Michael graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration, received his masters of education from Columbus State University in Columbus, GA., and received his Education Specialist Administration degree from Troy State University. He was employed with the Chamber County Board of Education where he taught at LaFayette Lanier Elementary School, was employed with Muscogee County Board of Education where he was Assistant Principal at Spencer High School and Assistant Principal at Arnold Middle School. He was employed with the Phenix City Public School where he was principal at Phenix City Middle School and was employed with the Madison County Board of Education where he was Assistant Principal at Madison County High and was principal at the Madison County Elementary. Michael was a member of West Point Presbyterian Church where he served as Sunday School Director and served on the session. Michael enjoyed outdoor activities with his family, including gardening and hiking. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Knight Redmond; two sons, Michael Blake Redmond and Joseph Mark Redmond, all of Huntsville, AL.; mother, Ruth Redmond, Columbus, GA.; sister, Shirley Harrison, Winston-Salem, NC.; brother, Steve Redmond, Panama City Beach, FL.

Please accept my deepest sympathy in your loss (and heaven's gain) of the passing of Mike.

It was just a shock to learn of Mike's death - I do not receive the paper - from Charlie Roberts last night. I was a teacher at Arnold Middle School during the time he was there and really enjoyed working with him. I pray cherished memories will help ease the sorrow within your hearts.

Mike was my principal for four years at Phenix City Middle School and I remember how much he cared for the students as well as faculty. His family was his source of pride and joy. He always thought of others before himself. He will be greatly missed but I know he's doing his heavenly father's work now.

Mr. Redmond was also one of my favorite teachers when I was in 6th grade at Lafayette Lanier. I can remember our class giving him a baby shower when he was expecting his first baby. My mom and I took the money from the class and purchased all the baby stuff we gave him. He always told me that I should go into comedy because I made him laugh on a daily basis. He was a great teacher and one that I will always remember. Prayers to Mrs. Redmond and the boys.

Mr. Redmond was one of my favorite teachers when I was a student at LaFayette Lanier Elementary school (Langdale)in Valley back in 1985 - 1986. I am very sorry to hear about his passing. --- J.J. Pitts
