Dr. Miriam's picture is on a shelf by my bed. I see it daily and am reminded of what a wonderful physician and mother she was. Then I start my day striving to be the same.

When we moved to Harris County 40 years ago, we needed a doctor quickly. It was evening and Dr. Bill met us at their office. Moving from Florida, I was shocked that a doctor would actually give of his time to do this. Dr. Bill and Dr. Miriam were just like that...always caring for others. When you went to see her for an office visit, you never felt rushed; she always had time to talk and answer your questions. She was such a blessing to Harris County; there will never be another doctor/person like Dr. Miriam! She will be greatly missed!

I am saddened by the news of Dr. Miriam's passing. She and Dr. Bill were Harris County icons who served their community and citizens extremely well. She introduced me to knitting when I was a Girl Scout. I often tell the story of seeing her knit while watching Suzie play basketball. The faster and more exciting the game became, the faster she would knit and never took her eyes off the game. It was something to see! Thank you for your dedication to the citizens of Harris County and my family. She will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to the family.

Dr. Miriam was a role model for me from elementary school through medical school and well into my career as a physician. I can credit her with my almost daily drive to study medicine, probably 1500 audio digest lectures, and never feeling like being a female physician was any thing other than a normal thing to do. She was a wonderful lady.

Dr. Bill and Dr. Miriam were two of the finest people I had the privilege of knowing. The Ellis girls played with the Chambless kids on many occasions!! Harris County was extremely blessed to have such fine physicians for so many years. My sympathies go out to Tom, Suzie, Edie and the rest of the family.
