Morgan Williams Obituary

Morgan Williams March 2, 1919- June 12, 2005 SMITHS STATION, AL— Morgan Williams, 86, of Smiths Station, died June 12 at the Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Epworth United Methodist Church with burial in Lakeview Memory Gardens with the Rev. Michael McKnight and the Rev. Roosevelt Oakes officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Phenix City. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Mr. Williams was born March 2, 1919 in Chambers County, Ala., son of the late Susie Gaylor Williams and the late Claude H. Williams. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Men's Club (UMC) (Ruth and Matthew Sunday School class). Mr. Williams was retired from Fieldcrest Mills and was a gardner and handyman. He had been a resident of Smiths Station most of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Johnston Williams and brothers, John Will, Chester, Sherril, Forrest, Winfred, Orville, Claude and Clyde Williams and a granddaughter Amy Maria Pace. Survivors include two sons, Walter Williams of Columbus and Herbert Williams of Phenix City; two daughters, Evelyn Williams of Smiths Station and Kathryn Pace of Blakely, Ga.; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Alfred Williams of Marietta, Ga.; many nieces and nephews.
